This past year has been incredible. Our Area Coordinators give us a strong local influence around the Greater Houston Area and we will continue to expand and drive that initiative. After years of dreaming and months of planning we successfully launched Lone Star Mopar Fest and look forward to LSMF2012 in the fall of this year. We have created a buzz around SCLX with the frequent interactions and support from the OEMS such as DriveSRT, Mopar, Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep. These organizations recognize how enthusiasts like SCLX harness owners and plug them in at the grassroots level.
I am very excited about 2012. SCLX’s mission has always been about “Members Helping Members”. Our website, forum, and every event is about connecting members with other members. We’ve watched great friendships form as members share ideas, break bread, and even provide each other roadside assistance. As this owners’ community grows in numbers we continue to think about how we can broaden our reach to new members and expand our offerings to current members.
About fourteen months ago, I began thinking about the overall process for set-up, information table/welcome center functionality at events, tear-down, and the overall flow at our events. We have seen attendance grow and at every event. Our Information Table serves as the hub for every event where we welcome newbies, have our club store, and provide information about events, mods, etc.
We know we must have a more prominent, functional connect point for members (especially new members) to gather around. At every meet we have owners show up who are not members of the club. Armed with an iPad the Info Table team is able to sign them up, educate these new members on what SCLX is about, and get them excited about coming to their next event.
So without delay we plan to take our 2012 event presence and member experience to another level. Our sights are set to purchase and equip a small cargo trailer with the items necessary to elevate the event experience for members, new and current.
The easiest way to describe what we look to do is by referencing an existing design. When DriveSRT came to the High Performance Tour and LSMF they brought a custom-made trailer. It is a perfect example of our vision. When we saw the trailer we knew this was our next step.
One of the great things about a car club is we have people that know how to customize vehicles. The event rig will transport the items we need to set up SCLX Mission Control such as tables, event supplies, pop-ups, stanchions, cooler, generator, flat screen(s), and audio equipment.
Here is a cost estimate for the SCLX Event Rig project:
Video/Tech equipment (flat screen, mirroring interface from iPad/Computer, printer).
Honda EU2000 Generator, #2.
As you all know this club started as a dues-free organization and almost five years later still remains dues-free because we want everyone to be able to participate. We know not everyone has it in their budget to be able to support this project.... and that's perfectly fine. We don't want anyone to feel they must donate to be a part of the club... that's never been the case.
For 2012, every donation made will apportioned into two buckets - the operating budget and the Event Rig project. No matter the size of your donation you will know you had a part in building the SCLX Event Rig. Several of you have made donations at the end of 2011 – those will count for 2012. Those that donate $50 or more (roughly a tank of gas) your name will be memorialized on the Event Rig.
Visit our Support page on the website to make an online donation or see a member of the Leadership Team at any event.
On behalf of the entire Club Staff thank you for taking the time to read this note. As we look ahead we are always reminded of how SCLX started and how much more than a club SCLX is... it truly is family.
Sincerest Regards,
