We are inviting all members, new and old, custom cars or stock cars... come out and see what SCLX is all about. Members helping members... its our DNA.
We've hosted eight club mod meets. They are a member favorite and a great place to learn about your vehicle and see all the different things that members have done to their vehicles. Our nineth mod meet is February 25 and we hope you can join us.
Wanted to get you a brief update since we are now 4 weeks into our Event Rig Project. Because of your tremendous support we have progressed completely through phase 2 as some final equipment delivers this week. We will debut this new equipment at the Central Meet and Greet next Friday. You will see larger tables, garment rack for club apparel store, PA system with elevated speakers, mixer board, wireless mics, and subwoofer.
Supporters have donated $3390 towards our Phase 2 goal of $6000 (57%). As the support continues to come in we will direct those funds towards exterior graphics and interior organizational items. Local business partners have expressed interested in being a part of this project. While our goal would be for this project to be 100% funded by members, we also know that our priority is to enhance the event experience for members and complete this project as timely as possible. Your leadership team will be reviewing that option and timing to allow for outside contributions.
Full information on this project can be found on the Event Rig page.
We are three weeks into the Event Rig Project and have made several more purchases for use at events:
The Honda EU2000i generator #1.
Foldable clothing rack for club store so it will be easier for members to see what's available.
Two 6ft tables.
Dual-purpose super-duty hand truck.
MOPAR ran a little contest yesterday and with all the SCLX members who participated we hope to win a "club kit" which includes a MOPAR branded canopy.
Thank you your help great progress has been made in a short time. Phase 1 is complete and you have made a serious dent into Phase 2. We are efforting graphics options for outside of the trailer and as the funds come in we will execute that step.
Full information on this project can be found on the Event Rig page.
We announced the Event Rig Project two weeks ago and now Phase 1 is in the books. Many of you saw the new club trailer last Friday night. Special thanks to Dr. Al and Madalyn Sheldon who in memory of their beloved Katherine sponsored the purchase of the trailer (Phase 1). Katherine knew how much Dr. Al loved this club and now she forever is a part of SCLX. Because the trailer is now purchased your donations to date are being used to equip the trailer and continue its transformation into the SCLX Event Rig, aka Mission Control. Our goal with Mission Control is to enhance your event experience because it's at events that you realize this club is not about the cars, it's about the people.
You can keep up with the progress on the Event Rig page of our website. Without members support this organization would not have grown to the level it is today. You are part of a cutting edge organization that is setting an example for what a "car club" can become - a place where owners become friends. As we say often, "The cars bring us together, the members set us apart". Thank you for your support to keep the mission moving forward.
As you know by now with our excitement yesterday on this forum, FB, Twitter and email -- PHASE 1 is complete ! We have the trailer, our foundation and canvas for what will become our Mission Control.
We loaded it up yesterday with our tables, event boxes, larger safety cones, 20ft telescoping flag pole, and club pop-up. We are now in PHASE 2 which we see as the audio portion of our event rig. The screechy megaphone is no more ! We have purchased our sound equipment which includes a mixing board for ipod, ipad, etc., two elevated speakers, and a dual wireless mic system. Watch for our future Street Talk interviews live over the PA system!
As funds come in we then plan to purchase one Honda EU2000 quiet generator, an additional straight leg popup, and some items necessary for the interior storage buildout - these each in their intent continue to add to Mission Control.
PHASE 3 will be really round out Mission Control and really allow for engagement and interaction with technology. Our video/tech portion, flat panel screen, interface for ipads/computers to screen, possibly a printer for name tags (always a dream of mine) are on the slate.
We are just over a 1 week since the announcement and launch of this exciting endeavor. You members are making this all happen! Thank you for your continued support of this project. Looking forward to a full rounded our MISSION CONTROL at our events soon!

Well, we don't have it yet... but on Thursday we will. Members have stepped up and in less than a week from announcing this project, the funds came in to purchase "Phase 1"... the trailer itself. Your support so far is a great vote of confidence for this project. Tentative plans are to have the trailer at the Central Meet and Greet this Friday... so come out and see it for yourself. It will be 100% stock and with your help we'll get the modding started and the rest of the equipment purchased.
We are calling all active members... if the club has meant something to you, if another member has helped you in any way, if you learned something from the club and it saved you money (we know, mods cost you money...haha), please consider making a small contribution towards this project. The club's "Mission Control" won't happen without you. If it takes another month, another few months, or another year, we want you to see that this trailer was equipped by members for members.
Visit the Event Rig page for more information and the Support page to make an online donation. If you want to make your donation in person visit LT members at the Info Table. You can also mail a check to the club, see the Contact page for our mailing address. Your $1, $5, $20, $50, $100 or more gets us that much closer to the goal. We know some can make donations and some cannot. Members before you made donations to get the club to where it is today. Members continue to pay it forward for other members... that's another thing that makes this club so great. We know you have a lot of choices when it comes to spending your time and your money. We are glad you are a part of SCLX!
Hope to see you Friday at the Central M/G, or, Saturday 1/28 for the Foodie Run to Luling.

This past year has been incredible. Our Area Coordinators give us a strong local influence around the Greater Houston Area and we will continue to expand and drive that initiative. After years of dreaming and months of planning we successfully launched Lone Star Mopar Fest and look forward to LSMF2012 in the fall of this year. We have created a buzz around SCLX with the frequent interactions and support from the OEMS such as DriveSRT, Mopar, Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep. These organizations recognize how enthusiasts like SCLX harness owners and plug them in at the grassroots level.
I am very excited about 2012. SCLX’s mission has always been about “Members Helping Members”. Our website, forum, and every event is about connecting members with other members. We’ve watched great friendships form as members share ideas, break bread, and even provide each other roadside assistance. As this owners’ community grows in numbers we continue to think about how we can broaden our reach to new members and expand our offerings to current members.
About fourteen months ago, I began thinking about the overall process for set-up, information table/welcome center functionality at events, tear-down, and the overall flow at our events. We have seen attendance grow and at every event. Our Information Table serves as the hub for every event where we welcome newbies, have our club store, and provide information about events, mods, etc.
We know we must have a more prominent, functional connect point for members (especially new members) to gather around. At every meet we have owners show up who are not members of the club. Armed with an iPad the Info Table team is able to sign them up, educate these new members on what SCLX is about, and get them excited about coming to their next event.
So without delay we plan to take our 2012 event presence and member experience to another level. Our sights are set to purchase and equip a small cargo trailer with the items necessary to elevate the event experience for members, new and current.
The easiest way to describe what we look to do is by referencing an existing design. When DriveSRT came to the High Performance Tour and LSMF they brought a custom-made trailer. It is a perfect example of our vision. When we saw the trailer we knew this was our next step.
One of the great things about a car club is we have people that know how to customize vehicles. The event rig will transport the items we need to set up SCLX Mission Control such as tables, event supplies, pop-ups, stanchions, cooler, generator, flat screen(s), and audio equipment.
Here is a cost estimate for the SCLX Event Rig project:
Video/Tech equipment (flat screen, mirroring interface from iPad/Computer, printer).
Honda EU2000 Generator, #2.
As you all know this club started as a dues-free organization and almost five years later still remains dues-free because we want everyone to be able to participate. We know not everyone has it in their budget to be able to support this project.... and that's perfectly fine. We don't want anyone to feel they must donate to be a part of the club... that's never been the case.
For 2012, every donation made will apportioned into two buckets - the operating budget and the Event Rig project. No matter the size of your donation you will know you had a part in building the SCLX Event Rig. Several of you have made donations at the end of 2011 – those will count for 2012. Those that donate $50 or more (roughly a tank of gas) your name will be memorialized on the Event Rig.
Visit our Support page on the website to make an online donation or see a member of the Leadership Team at any event.
On behalf of the entire Club Staff thank you for taking the time to read this note. As we look ahead we are always reminded of how SCLX started and how much more than a club SCLX is... it truly is family.
Sincerest Regards,

Today we introduced a new video feature. Street Talk with Members will showcase the great people who make up this club. Our members make SCLX what it is and we are excited to show them off. Episodes are posted on our YouTube channel as well as on the Launch Pad/Members page.
So members, when the SCLX cameras are on you don't be shy - you are the BEST part of this club!
